Join Laura Green for a 7-night all-inclusive Yoga & Safari Retreat in South Africa
Take a journey there in your mind for a moment . . .
Awaken as dawn breaks, linger a moment and listen to the nature that surrounds you. Roll out of bed and onto the yoga deck as we greet the day with pure wonder in our hearts. We salute the sun with a lakeside view before days of exploration, adventure and mindful moments in nature. In the evening we stretch out from our safari drives with relaxing yoga before gathering for fireside chats and dinner. Oh the conversations we'll have "Did you see that cheetah? What a magical moment."
Laura Green will be your primary host and teacher for this experience. Laura has a great passion for safaris having been on many life-changing trips in Africa and India, even getting married in the middle of a Safari, as well as being a regular volunteer and sponsor for a Cheetah Conservation Centre in South Africa. This retreat is co-host by our in country partner and booking agent who'll facilitate the some of the administration of this retreat.
We’ve crafted this retreat to bring together three passions: soulful yoga, South Africa’s incredible wildlife, and the rich cultural history of the region. This journey is more than a holiday—it’s an immersive experience into the heart of KwaZulu-Natal, where nature and history come alive. As well as our daily yoga classes and games drives this retreat includes cultural experiences exploring the heritage of KwaZulu-Natal. We’ll visit the historic Battlefields to learn about pivotal moments in South Africa’s past and their cultural significance and take a guided hike in the majestic Drakensberg Mountains.
Our safari adventure unfolds entirely within the stunning Nambiti Private Game Reserve, a hidden gem in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. This pristine reserve is home to the iconic Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo—and offers an unparalleled opportunity to immerse yourself in South Africa's incredible wildlife. With twice daily safari drives, at sunrise and sunset, through the diverse landscapes you’ll encounter a wealth of species, including cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, hippos, and various antelope. Bird lovers will also be captivated by the vibrant array of over 300 bird species that call Nambiti home.
Our yoga schedule will work around the Safari drives with 1 - 2 classes/day plus meditation sessions, and fireside ceremonies. From our yoga platform you can look out over the savannah and listen to the sounds of nature all around. As our luxury lodge is surrounded by waterbuck, baboons, mongoose, genet, and hundreds of bird species that visit every day. Thanks to the position of the lodge there are very few mosquitoes and the weather in April is a pleasant temperature for outside yoga. A backup indoor space is also available should we need it.
After a direct flight to O.R. Tambo International Airport in South Africa we take a 4-hour drive into the African bush, where will settle in for 7 nights at our eco-safari Elephant Rock Lodge. The Lodge has an intimate and luxurious feel.
Elephant Rock Lodge is a boutique safari lodge situated within the malaria-free Nambiti Private Game Reserve in South Africa. Overlooking a waterhole, the lodge offers luxury accommodation with just 5 rooms, ensuring an intimate and personalised experience. You can enjoy thrilling Big Five game drives, relax by the rock pool, and savour exquisite cuisine in various dining settings, including a boma under the stars. The lodge's proximity to historic battlefields and the Drakensberg Mountains adds cultural and adventure opportunities to the retreat. Elephant Rock Lodge is located within the Nambiti Private Game Reserve itself, which means the game drives begin right from the lodge making it incredibly convenient for you to enjoy the wildlife and Big Five encounters.
The luxurious rooms at Elephant Rock Lodge are designed to combine comfort and privacy. Each of the 5 suites feature a large double or twin bed, a private ensuite bathroom, and its own veranda overlooking the waterhole. With only five suites on the property, the lodge ensures an intimate and exclusive experience, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the tranquility of the African bush. Due to the limited rooms this retreat is offered as 2 people / room only. You can share a twin room with a friend, family member or Laura can partner you with another solo traveler of the same gender. Alternatively you can book a double room and share with a partner.
Our retreat is full board, featuring wholesome and locally inspired meals. Beakfast is served upon returning from a game drive and consists of a combined Continental & English breakfast & hot dishes made to order. A light lunch is served prior to the afternoon safari and a sumptuous dinner awaits you upon returning from the late afternoon safari. A little snack / drink is served during the morning and afternoon game drivers to keep you energy high between meals! The lodge caters to all dietary preferences, including vegetarian and vegan. While the retreat does not include alcohol, the lodge's bar is available should you wish to enjoy a drink. Although on the afternoon game drive a complementary soft drinks, local beers and house wine is offered - in South Africa a 'sundowner' is somewhat of a Safari tradition!

Our retreat begins at O.R. Tambo International Airport in South Africa. We'll recommend which flights to book from the UK, with direct flights and no requirement for a visa it's a straight forward itinerary. It is usual to take night flights each way. So the retreat is 14th-21st April, but you're likely to be departing UK evening of 13th April and returning morning of the 22nd. It will be important that our group travel together on the same outbound flight to fit with our onward travel.
We recommend budgeting £900 - £1,100 for your flight but this may fluctuate. As soon as the flight become available to book we will inform you so that you can book early for the best price. Once at O.R. Tambo International Airport, you'll be collected for our 4.5 hour drive to Elephant Rock Lodge. This is a long drive but if you want to see animals in the wild then we have to go to them! We will take comfort breaks en route. Please note the cost of flights is not included in the retreat.
