A very special day retreat for just 8 people at Śrīvana, Laura’s private woodland studio in the New Forest.
This day is a spiritual journey through the making of your own sacred mālā. Across the day you will create your own 108 bead crystal mālā from beginning to end. You will choose your beads with intention, cleanse them in ritual, infuse them with mantra, thread them bead by bead, and learn how to use your mālā as a companion for meditation, chanting and daily sādhanā.
A mālā is not simply something beautiful to wear. It is a sacred, spiritual and deeply personal companion through life. Every bead becomes part of the journey. Every mantra, every breath, every knot becomes woven into something you can hold, wear, pray with and return to for years.
Alongside the mālā making, you will explore mantra as a living practice, move through a soulful devotional yoga practice, meditate with your finished mālā, enjoy a nourishing lunch, and spend time in the peaceful grounds of Śrīvana.
This day is a rite of passage into a deeper relationship with your own spiritual practice.
This is a very small retreat, limited to just 8 people, so the day can feel spacious, personal and deeply held.
The day will include a devotional movement practice designed to open the body, soften the mind and prepare you for mantra and meditation. Indulge in fluid, grounding and heartfelt movement, weaving together accessible āsana, breath, mudrā and embodied devotion.
You will be guided to move not for performance, but as prayer in motion.
You will learn how to use your mālā as an anchor for meditation, mantra repetition and inner steadiness. This gives you something practical and beautiful to take into your home practice long after the retreat has ended. We'll explore simple, steady meditation practices that help you settle the nervous system, gather the mind and return to the quiet centre of your own being.
A delicious and nutritious vegetarian lunch is prepared using fresh wholesome ingredients that fuel your body and mind. Food is a key source of 'prana' our life energy and the right foods can enhance your yoga journey
The heart of the day is the creation of your own 108 bead crystal mālā. You will be guided through the process of choosing, threading, knotting and completing your mālā with care and intention. All materials are included, including crystal beads, thread, tassel and everything you need to make a complete 108 bead mālā to take home.
Laura’s handmade mālās usually sell for £85, and on this retreat you will have the rare opportunity to make your own, guided by Laura, in a small and intimate setting.
Learn how to work with mantra in a grounded, accessible and meaningful way. We will explore mantra as sound, focus, repetition and devotion. You will be guided in chanting, listening, japa and silent repetition, so you can experience mantra not just as something you say, but as something you enter.
You do not need to be confident with chanting to attend. You simply need to be open to sound, practice and the possibility of meeting yourself differently.
