Many yoga teachers find it easier to talk about prāṇāyāma than pricing.
Yet your relationship with money has a profound impact on whether your yoga business feels sustainable, rewarding and financially secure.
This workshop with guest expert Jessica Cross, explores how yoga teachers can develop a healthier money mindset and build a business that supports both their students and themselves.
Money Is an Exchange of Energy
One of the biggest mindset shifts is recognising that money is simply an exchange of energy.
As yoga teachers, we understand that energy is designed to flow. Money is no different. It flows in through the value we provide and flows back out as we invest in our homes, families, communities and businesses.
Charging fairly is not about greed. It allows yoga teachers to continue offering life changing work for years to come.
Why Yoga Teachers Often Undercharge
Many yoga teachers struggle with pricing, particularly women working in caring professions.
Common limiting beliefs include:
- Feeling guilty about charging for yoga.
- Believing other people cannot afford your services.
- Comparing yourself to other teachers.
- Feeling like an imposter despite your experience.
These beliefs often lead teachers to undercharge while overdelivering, creating a cycle of exhaustion and financial pressure.
Your Money Story Matters
It can be a good practice for yoga teacher to reflect on their earliest memories of money.
Many of the beliefs we carry about wealth, success and pricing were formed long before we started teaching yoga. Becoming aware of these stories is the first step towards changing them.
Useful questions to journal on include:
- What is my earliest memory of money?
- What do I believe about people who have money?
- What does financial wellbeing look like for me?
Awareness creates the opportunity to choose differently.
Fair Pricing Supports Better Teaching
One of the most powerful ideas from the conversation is replacing the question:
“Is this affordable?”
with
“Is this fair?”
Fair pricing considers both the student and the teacher.
When your pricing allows you to pay your bills, rest, continue your education and teach with enthusiasm, everyone benefits. Sustainable teachers create sustainable communities.
Communicate the Value of Your Offerings
Students are not simply paying for a yoga class.
They are investing in improved wellbeing, reduced stress, greater mobility, confidence and connection.
Rather than apologising for your prices, clearly communicate the transformation your students can expect. Help people understand the value of what you offer instead of assuming they already know.
Prosperity Supports Your Yoga Business
Developing your money mindset is not about becoming attached to wealth.
It is about creating enough financial stability that you can continue sharing yoga without burnout or resentment.
When your business supports your life, you have more energy to support the people who need your teaching most.
